He has been described by the United Nations Environment Programme as "the Father of Economic Ecology" because of his leadership of the ever-green revolution movement in agriculture. He was Chairman of the UN Science Advisory Committee. He has also served as Independent Chairman of the FAO Council and President of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources. He was President of the World Wide Fund for Nature (India). He also served as President of the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs, President of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Chairman, National Commission on Farmers.

Dr. Renu Swarup is presently Senior Adviser to the Department of Biotechnology (DBT). A PhD in Genetics and Plant Breeding, Dr. Renu Swarup completed her Post-Doctoral at The John Innes Centre, Norwich UK, under Commonwealth Scholarship and returned to India to take up the assignment of a Science Manager in the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, GoI, in 1989. At DBT, she heads the National Bioresource Development Board and is involved in developing, funding and monitoring programmes in the area of Energy Biosciences, Bio resource Development and Utilization and Plant Biotechnology - Bio prospecting, Tissue Culture and other Biomass associated programmes. As a Science Manager, issues related to policy planning and implementation are also a part of her assignment. She was actively engaged in formulation of the Biotechnology Vision in 2001 and National Biotechnology Development Strategy in 2007 as the Member Secretary of the Expert Committee. She was also a member of the Task Force on Women in Science constituted by the Scientific Advisory Committee to the Prime Minister. She was awarded the "Bio Spectrum Person of the Year Award" in 2012.

Dr. M D Nair, has a Ph.D. Degree from the University of Illinois, USA. He has worked extensively on New Drug Development, Patents, Documentation and Information Systems and Planning & Control of Production, Marketing and Clinical Trials.
Dr. Nair, who was later, Vice President of SPIC, was instrumental in setting up for SPIC, one of the largest antibiotic complexes in India, a 'state-of-the-art' Pharmaceutical R&D Centre, a unit for production of Medical Devices for cardiovascular surgery, a multi-purpose plant for Bulk Drugs manufacture, a Drug Formulations Plant and all the other operations of SPIC Pharmaceuticals Division.
Dr. Soumya Swaminathan is a pediatrician by training, having completed her medical education at the Armed Forces Medical College and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (India) followed by a fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, USA. She has spent over 24 years at the Tu-berculosis Research Centre in Chennai, (now renamed National In-stitute for Research in Tuberculosis) where she is currently the Director. She has over 200 peer-reviewed publications and serves on many national and international committees. Her major research interests are in pediatric and adult TB, their interaction with HIV and nutrition and management of co infections, as well as pharmacokinetics and pharmacogenetics. She is the recipient of several awards for excellence in biomedical sciences. She is currently the Secretary DHR and Director General Of ICMR.

Dr Sudha Nair majored in Botany and was awarded a doctorate in Microbial Biotechnology in the year 1990. She served at the M S Swaminathan Research Foundation for close to 20 years in various capacities and stepped down in 2011 as a Senior Director. She is currently the CEO of the GoldenJubilee Biotechnology Park for Women, Society, in Chennai, India - the first Park set up for women entrepreneurs in the area of Biotechnology. She serves on several National and International Boards, as a trustee in Independent Organizations and NGO's and is a member of the Task Forces of Department of Science and Technology and Department of Biotechnology under the Ministry of Science and Technology Govt. of India. She is a member for the Gender Advisory Board of the UN Commission for Science and Technology for Development and an Executive Board member of the Organization forWomen in Science for the Developing World, Asia Pacific Region.

The Group has interests in diverse fields of business including Textiles, Automobiles, and Education. She is a multifaceted personality and an avid social worker. Mrs. Usha Krishna was born in Bangalore. She graduated in Physics and Mathematics from the Mysore University. She underwent a management programme in 1985-86 at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
She is a Committee Member of Crafts Council of India for nearly 35 years, and had held the post of Vice President for 15 years. Currently, she is the Honorary Treasurer of the organization. As an active member of the Crafts Council of India, she has organized or participated in several workshops and exhibitions, each focusing one specific area of expertise in the crafts field. Mrs. Krishna was elected President of the World Crafts Council at their General Assembly held in Hangzhou, China in November 2008. During the four-year term as President, Mrs. Krishna's main focus was on advocacy - taking the cause of craftsperson to the Governments, policy makers and the business community and get crafts and craftsperson recognized as an integral part of the society and brought into the mainstream of life.As President of WCC, she participated in several international events such as Africa Days, Vienna; UNESCO Forum on Cultural Industry; International Fair of Craft (FIART) in Havana, Cuba; Cairo Forum on Cultural and Economic Development, etc., and effectively advocated for the cause of crafts and craftsperson in these forums.
